Annual Conference Scholarship

The purpose of the Association of College and Research Libraries/New England Chapter (ACRL/NEC) ACRL Conference Scholarship is to enable a member of ACRL/NEC, who has never attended the ACRL Conference, to attend the ACRL Conference.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a member of ACRL/NEC.
  • The applicant must be employed at a New England college/university library.
  • The applicant must not have attended an ACRL Conference.
  • The applicant must not be a current member of the ACRL/NEC board.
  • The applicant must not be a current member of the ACRL/NEC Scholarship & Awards Committee.

Terms

  • The applicant must submit a copy of the completed application form and related documents to the ACRL/NEC Scholarship & Awards Committee by January 31 during the academic year the conference is held.
  • The applicant must submit proof of employment – current copy of library staff directory – at a New England college/universitylibrary.
  • A statement of intent must be provided to the ACRL/NEC Scholarship & Awards Committee as part of the application process.
  • The scholarship recipient will present information related to the conference to ACRL/NEC members during ACRL/NEC special interest group meetings, board meetings, or related ACRL/NEC activities. In addition, the award recipient will be expected to write about his/her experiences for the ACRL/NEC newsletter.
  • One scholarship will be awarded every other year.
  • Amount of award: up to $1000 will be awarded to reimburse winner for travel expenses and registration fee upon completion/submission of appropriate forms and original receipts. In addition, if the winner is able to attend the ACRL/NEC Annual Conference, the winner will receive complimentary registration and up to $150 reimbursement for travel-related expenses (upon completion/submission of appropriate forms and original receipts) to the ACRL/NEC Annual Conference.
  • ACRL/NEC will acknowledge applications upon receipt via email.

Presentation

  • Award recipient will be notified as soon as the Scholarship & Awards Committee makes a decision. An announcement of the winner will be made in the ACRL/NEC Newsletter as well as during the scholarship & awards presentation at the ACRL/NEC Annual Conference.

ACRL/NEC must receive the completed application, statement of intent, proof of employment at a New England university/college library and a current resume by January 31, 2011 during the academic year the conference is held.
