The purpose of the Association of College and Research Libraries/New England Chapter (ACRL/NEC) Best Paper Award is to award an ACRL/NEC member with the best scholarly library/information science paper.
Eligibility

The applicant or nominee must be a member of ACRL/NEC.

The applicant must not be a current member of the ACRL/NEC board.

The applicant must not be a current member of the ACRL/NEC Scholarship & Awards Committee.
Terms

The applicant or nominator must submit a copy of the completed application form and related documents to the ACRL/NEC Scholarship & Awards Committee by February 10, 2012. Papers by ACRL/NEC members may also be nominated for review by members of the ACRL/NEC Scholarship & Awards Committee.

The paper will be judged by a panel of ACRL/NEC members and must be on a library/information science related topic. The paper will be judged on the following criteria: innovativeness, originality, practicality, currency, clarity, quality, completeness, and potential interest to ACRL/NEC members.

Papers must be published or accepted for publication in the year preceding or of the award year. If paper has not yet been published, applicant must submit confirmation of acceptance for publication.

Depending upon the applications or nominations received, the jury may recommend that the award not be awarded in a given year.

The scholarship award winner may be asked to present the paper at an ACRL/NEC event. In addition, the award recipient will be expected to write about his/her experiences for the ACRL/NEC newsletter.

One award of $250 will be awarded per year. In addition, if the winner is able to attend the ACRL/NEC Annual Conference, the winner will receive complimentary registration and up to $150 reimbursement for travel-related expenses (upon completion/submission of appropriate forms and original receipts) to the ACRL/NEC Annual Conference.

ACRL/NEC will acknowledge applications upon receipt via email.
Presentation

Award recipient will be notified as soon as the Scholarship & Awards Committee makes a decision. An announcement of the winner will be made in the ACRL/NEC Newsletter as well as during the awards and scholarships presentation at the ACRL/NEC Annual Conference.
ACRL/NEC must receive the completed application and library/information science paper by February 10, 2012.
