Web Page Submission Guidelines


This document was written to provide general guidance for the creation, submission, and management
of materials on ACRL New England Chapter web pages. Questions not addressed by this document

The purpose of the Website:

To provide a space to disseminate information about ACRL/NEC-related activities.

The site will not maintain a "list of links;" however, links to ALA and ACRL, our sponsoring
organizations, should be provided. Pages submitted to the Website may contain any number
of relevant links, provided that the person responsible for the page updates it regularly to assure
that the links function.

 

Who can submit material?

Any ACRL/NEC member, provided that the material submitted meets the guidelines for formatting
and for content.

Items for the calendar may be submitted by any individual; decisions regarding inclusion in the
calendar are the responsibility of the person maintaining that page.

All pages submitted must have either:

All submissions, except calendar listings, should be sent to the ACRL/NEC Webmaster. Calendar
listings should be sent to the calendar coordinator.

 

Format guidelines for submitting material:

  • Content must be submitted electronically:
  • .html or .htm files for new page
  • .txt or .html files for updates only
  • .gif or .jpeg for image files
  • .pdf files also acceptable
  • Header must succinctly identify page contents/purpose and include the ACRL/NEC affiliation
  • Page must have a white background
  • Use of standard fonts (e.g., Times New Roman) and font sizes (12 pt or 0 in html editors) is
    requested
  • Internal links must be relative
  • Page must include return link to page from which author requests original link
  • All submissions should include precise indications to the pages from which the author wishes to
    be linked
  • No frames
  • If updating (such as the calendar), only the changes along with explicit directions as to what is
    being replaced should be submitted.

    Universal Access
    Submissions should be accessible to all potential readers, including individuals with visual and
    hearing impairments. All information must be expressed in text form, including links; if images are
    included, please provide a text description of the image and its function via the <alt> tag. If image
    maps, multimedia, or scripting languages are used for either functional or aesthetic reasons, please
    provide an alternate page.
