Lisa Richter, Candidate for MA State Representative

Candidate Statement

The role of representative for each of the six new England states was created to enable more targeted communication and improve representation and involvement of chapter members. Focusing on myriad organizations within our respective states enables opportunities for deeper engagement. During the past academic year, I have focused on identifying groups within the state who might benefit from greater awareness of chapter events and initiatives; organized a growing contact list for outreach, including state and regional library associations and consortia, as well as students enrolled in the LIS program at Simmons College.  As a special project, I have been building a contact list for community college library staff across the region, with the goal of strengthening service to and representation of community college libraries throughout New England. In conversations with colleagues at conferences and workshops, I mention my role as state rep and encourage constituents to give feedback on ways ACRL/NEC can strengthen our chapter on behalf of all library staff. It has been an honor to serve MA constituents in this capacity and I welcome the opportunity to continue building this infrastructure to improve outreach. I appreciate your support!
