ACRL/New England Chapter
Librarian of the Year Award



Purpose: To recognize an outstanding member of the Association of College and Research Libraries,
New England Chapter.

Eligibility: The recipient must be a current member of ACRL/NEC

Criteria: The recipient will exemplify the essence of outstanding librarianship through a commitment
to service, professionalism, and accomplishment in the areas of service, leadership, or innovation. They
will have exhibited a dedication to fulfilling the ACRL/NEC mission by furthering the goals, values,
and objectives of the organization.

" The objectives of the Chapter shall be to provide opportunities for the professional
growth of academic and research librarians by conducting workshops and arranging
programs in the various [geographic] areas of the region to encourage the exchange
of ideas and information relating to library developments; to disseminate educational
information oriented to academic and research libraries; and to support and participate
in programs of other regional and local organizations in New England when appropriate,
in order to promote and improve library service to the academic research community."

Awards: The recipient will be honored at the annual Spring Conference (May 20th, 2005) and
presented with a plaque and a check in the amount of $500.00.

Committee: The committee, consisting of the President, a member-at-large, and the past recipient of
the award, will call for nominations and make the selection. Nominations should include a letter of
recommendation and any supporting documentation.

Nominations: Nominations will be accepted through April 1st, 2005. Please email a brief statement
describing why this person should be honored ACRL/NEC Librarian of the Year along with their name,
title, and place of employment to: canderso@bryant.edu and include Librarian of the Year in the subject
