Spring Conference Announcement

Access Services Interest Group

Joyce Sullivan
ASIG Co-Chair
Rivier College

2003 has been a busy and productive year for the Access Services Interest Group! With two years' experience organizing and participating in several programs, the ASIG planning committee continued with a very successful spring program, and more exciting opportunities are coming this fall.

Our goal is to organize at least 2 programs per year, beginning with a smaller fall program, followed by a larger workshop program in the spring. This year our spring program was titled "Crossing to Safety: Coping with Changes in Access Services." This workshop featured speakers with a range of perspectives and backgrounds, including David Ives, Chief Information Officer, Nelinet; Tracey Leger Hornby, Associate Chief Information Officer, Brandeis University; and Rockie Blunt, President, Blunt Consulting Group. The full day program was hosted at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester and was attended by 80 people.

Reviewing feedback from this program we have organized a fall program. In presenting "Musical Chairs: What's your Hot Topic this Semester?" we hope to provide an opportunity for active sharing by Access Services staff, both professionals and paraprofessionals, about a variety of current topics. To make the program more accessible across the entire New England region, it will be held in two locations concurrently:

Thursday, November 13, 2003
Northern location: Dartmouth College, NH
Southern location: Trinity College, CT
10:00 am -1:00 pm
Program

The program will consist of several interactive discussion tables with a moderator at each table. Participants will choose the table they want to join. There will be several sessions, so participants can switch tables to discuss different topics.

Lunch and Refreshments: Bring your own lunch. ASIG will provide beverages and refreshments.

Additional Information: More information about the conference will be available soon. For immediate questions contact: Joyce Sullivan, Regina Library, Rivier College, 420 Main Street, Nashua, NH 03060, (603) 897-8256 or jsullivan@rivier.edu.
