New England Library Instruction Interest GroupChristopher Cox On June 6th, 2003 NELIG held its Annual Program, "Teaching Tactics: From the Library to the E-Classroom and Back," at Keene State College. The program included presentations by NELIG members including James Miller, Shelly Davis, Kwasi Sarkodie-Mensah and Marilyn Steinberg, as well as architect Michael Cohen. Guests Sue Cooperstein from Loyola/Notre Dame and Liz Kocevar-Weidinger from Longwood University started things off with an interesting presentation on active learning. The program was attended by more than 100 people. As in past years, NELIG offered scholarships to Simmons students to attend the conference. The program was an overwhelming success (as always), a result of the work by planning committee members: Mary Sullivan, Katrina Olender, Linda Hawkes, Patty Durisin and Janet Valeski. Thanks also to Judy Hildebrandt for the location and hospitality and to Anna Litten for all her hard work as last year's Chair. The first NELIG meeting of the academic year was held on August 20th at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. Kathy Labadorf was our gracious host. Fifteen people attended the meeting. Based on the evaluations of the Annual Program, ideas were batted around for the next Annual Program. A survey was also distributed to gain feedback about where to hold future meetings and what should occur during them. The next NELIG meeting is tentatively scheduled for November 21st, location yet to be determined. All are welcome to attend. To keep up-to-date on NELIG doings, join the NELIG listserv.
