Welcome to the ACRL New England Chapter News Online. Chapter officers and members have been busy this spring, and you'll find accounts of a great variety of activities in this issue. The first annual Librarian of the Year Award was bestowed, our membership gathered to share experiences and community at the Annual Conference, and Janice Wilbur went to Washington, D.C. for National Legislative Day. In a change related to this newsletter, membership ratified a change to our Bylaws, creating a unified Communications Committee from the former Publications and Newsletter Committee and Publicity Committee. As Communications Committee Coordinators, Val Harper and I will be working to better integrate features of both the web site and the newsletter. Starting with this issue you will see links to the Chapter web site for such pieces as the Calendar and meeting minutes.

The work of the Chapter has been very ably guided by the 2003-2004 officers. Those concluding their 2003-2004 term are: President, Linda Collins (Harvard University); Vice President and President-Elect, Colleen Anderson (Bryant College); Past-President, Helena Rodrigues (Johnson & Wales University); Secretary, Florence Doksansky (Brown University); Treasurer, Marilyn Steinberg (Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences); and Members-at-Large, Mary C. MacDonald (University of Rhode Island) and Martha Rice Sanders (Providence College). New officers begin their terms in May, and please see the call for new leadership to guide the Continuing Education Committee.

The News is published three times a year by the New England Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries. New issues will appear on this site in September, January, and May. Contributions and news releases for the Fall, 2004 issue should be sent to Christine Turner, Electronic Resources Librarian, W.E.B. Du Bois Library, University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA, 01003, or cturner@library.umass.edu. Copy deadline for the next issue is September 15th, 2004. Comments and suggestions for the News Online are welcome.
