Our Annual Program, "Creative Collaborations: It Takes a Campus to Educate a Student," held June 11th at Tufts University, was a resounding success. Keith Barker, Director of the Institute for Teaching & learning at UCONN, presented the keynote speech, modeling great teaching practices and inspiring his audience to raise the bar on their own presentation styles. A host of breakout sessions covered everything from working with the administration to the First-Year-Experience, and the always popular sessions on information literacy.

July marked the departure of our Chair, Chris Cox, to the position of Assistant Director, William D. McIntyre Library, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. We wish our friend and colleague good fortune in this new position.

NELIG now has a Steering Committee to assist the Chair in planning our meetings, as well as an Annual Program Committee, already planning next year's event. Our first Steering Committee meeting was held at beautiful Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island, on a gorgeous July morning. Although the environment is more conducive to recreation than work, our committee members were able to nail down tentative dates and topics for our upcoming meetings.

Our first meeting of the year was held at Framingham State College on August 20th, and hosted by Chair-elect Sandra Rothenberg. Our theme was "Standards in Sixty: incorporating the ACRL Infolit Standards into the one-shot library instruction session." Presenters included Kathy Labadorf of UConn, Corrine Ebbs of Westfield State College, Karen McNulty of Boston College, Linda Stern of Massachusetts Bay Community College and Barbara Kenney of Roger Williams University. Topics included collaboration with the First Year Writing Program, addressing a single standard in a session and problem-based learning, after which there was a lively discussion of future meeting dates, locations, topics and presenters. The schedule is available on the NELIG web site.
