Women's Studies Interest Group Report

The Women's Studies Interest Group fall program will be at the American Antiquarian Society Library in Worcester on Friday, October 15th from 10:00 AM to 12:00. See the accompanying announcement for details. Please let us know by October 1 if you will be attending.

We will be holding our first ever women's studies *retreat* July 21 and 22, 2005 at Colby College and the Margaret Chase Smith Library. We will have an afternoon program at Colby College Library, Special Collections on Thursday, July 21st. Holdings include published and unpublished works by Sarah Orne Jewett, Lilla Cabot Perry, Vernon Lee (Violet Paget), Lady Gregory, Lily and Elizabeth Yeats (who started the Cuala Press), and other remarkable women. We'll stay overnight on the Colby College campus, in Waterville, Maine. Optional activities include a visit to the Colby College Museum of Art, a group dinner, and more.

On Friday, July 22nd, we'll have a morning program at the Margaret Chase Smith Library, in Skowhegan, Maine. The Margaret Chase Smith Library is very busy with school groups during the school year, so we have had to schedule this visit way in advance, for the summer months.

The WSIG web page now includes a lengthy list of: Resources for Women's Studies in New England, including links to Women's Studies Programs in New England and to Women's Studies Research Centers and Institutes, Libraries/Archives/Digitization Projects, Finding Aids, Professional Associations (Regional, national and International), and "Other" women-related organizations (for example, the Women's Review of Books).

Nancy Dennis is going to look into setting up a Women's Studies Interest Group listserv at Salem State College. Up to now we have been using a distribution list Chris has been maintaining since inheriting it from her predecessor eight years ago.
