ACRL/NEC Mid-Winter Dessert Social

About 100 librarians attended a Mid-Winter Dessert Social sponsored by ACRL/NEC and held at the Mary Baker Eddy Library on Massachusetts Avenue. The event began with a tour of the Mary Baker Eddy Library and collections given by library Director, Susan Klein. The social followed the tour and included introductions by Colleen Anderson of representatives from the larger Interest Groups within ACRL/NEC. The groups represented included the New England Library Instruction Group (NELIG), the Information Technology Interest Group (ITIG), and the Women's Studies Interest Group. Norma Gahl from NELIG presented a very informative poster displaying some of the recent activities from that active group. ACRL National candidate for Vice President/President Elect, Pamela Snelson, attended the event and gave her hello and mentioned her admiration for the level of activity of the New England group. Five graduate students were present and had the opportunity to network with working professionals in the New England area.

Jules Catering provided the desserts for the social and the Boston Rose Flower Shop supplied the flowers. The social was a wonderful way to welcome ALA/ACRL members to Boston and for attendees to enjoy informal conversation with colleagues from different parts of the country. A great time was had by all!
