Welcome to the ACRL New England Chapter News Online. When the snow and cold envelope us, the Chapter provides warm collegiality. The ALA Midwinter Dessert Social at the Mary Baker Eddy Library provided a taste of rich collections and conviviality. To shine the light on an outstanding colleague, recognize their accomplishments with a nomination for the ACRL/NEC Librarian of the Year Award. Looking ahead, the Annual Program on May 20th should get your blood flowing with anticipation. In a broader realm, read Chapter President Colleen Anderson's commentary on the benefits of allegiance with our national organization in her President's Letter. And the Continuing Education Committee now offers a directory web page of professional development opportunities. ACRL/New England Chapter and ACRL National are both poised to support your library employment aspirations. For a complete listing of events, visit our Chapter Calendar, or visit the interest group web sites to learn how you can participate. Additional reports and announcements are included in this newsletter.

This year the Chapter is guided by our steadfast officers: President, Colleen Anderson (Bryant College); Vice President and President-Elect, Nancy George (Salem State College); Past-President, Linda Collins (Harvard University); Secretary, Kendra St. Aubin (Bridgewater State College); Treasurer, Marilyn Steinberg (Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences); and Members-at-Large, Martha Rice Sanders (Providence College) and Janice Wilbur (Assumption College).

The News is published three times a year by the New England Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries. New issues will appear on this site in September, January, and May. Contributions and news releases for the Winter, 2005 issue should be sent to Christine Turner, Electronic Resources Librarian, W.E.B. Du Bois Library, University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA, 01003, or cturner@library.umass.edu. Copy deadline for the next issue is May 23rd, 2005.
