Librarian of the Year Award Nominations Sought

Who will be this year's ACRL/NEC Librarian of the Year? Please take the time to affirm the accomplishments of an individual who deserves to be honored by others in the profession. Tina Magi, Reference Librarian at University of Vermont, was the first recipient of this prestigious award. Consider the following criteria and selection process, and submit your nominations (details below.) Surely someone you know deserves to be recognized for enriching the experience of colleagues and library users.

Purpose: To recognize an outstanding member of the Association of College and Research Libraries, New England Chapter.

Eligibility: The recipient must be a current member of ACRL/NEC.

Selection Criteria: The recipient will exemplify the essence of outstanding librarianship through a commitment to service, professionalism, and accomplishment in the areas of service, leadership, or innovation. They will have exhibited a dedication to fulfilling the ACRL/ENC mission by furthering the goals, values, and objectives of the organization.

Awards: The recipient will be honored at the annual Spring Conference (May 20, 2005) and presented with a plaque and a check in the amount of $500.00.

Committee: The committee, consisting of the President, a member-at- large, and the past recipient of the award, will call for nominations and make the selection. Nominations should include a letter of recommendation and any supporting documentation.

Nominations will be accepted through April 1st, 2005. Please email a brief statement describing why this person should be honored as ACRL/NEC Librarian of the Year along with their name, title, and place of employment to: canderso@bryant.edu and include Librarian of the Year in the subject line. Nominations can be mailed to:
