Welcome to the ACRL New England Chapter News Online. This issue marks transitions, as it does each spring, from the end of another busy year of academics and ACRL/NEC programs to the rejuvenation and "catch up" of summertime; and from the past year's officers to a newly elected slate (see below.) While we recognize the achievements of our membership through the Librarian of the Year Award and our annual conference, we are also regrouping and planning for programs in the coming year. It is an ideal time for the ACRL/NEC Board, past and present chairs of our Special Interest Groups, and any other interested people to participate in the June 6th retreat at Hampshire College. As we move forward, the Chapter is also looking for a new Communications Committee Co-Chair. Following our spring election, ACRL/NEC has a new Board. This year the Chapter will be guided by: President, Nancy George (Salem State College); Vice President and President-Elect, Christine Turner (UMass Amherst); Past-President, Colleen Anderson (Bryant College); Secretary, Kendra St. Aubin (Bridgewater State College); (re-elected) Treasurer, Marilyn Steinberg (Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences); and Members-at-Large, Janice Wilbur (Assumption College) and Janet DiPaolo (UMass Boston). The News is published three times a year by the New England Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries. New issues will appear on this site in September, January, and May. Until a new Communications Committee Co-Chair is appointed, contributions and news releases for the Fall, 2005 issue should be sent to Christine Turner, Electronic Resources Librarian, W.E.B. Du Bois Library, University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA, 01003, or cturner@library.umass.edu. Copy deadline for the next issue is September 21st, 2005. Comments and suggestions for the News Online are welcome. |
