More! About the Annual Conference … Christine Turner The University of Massachusetts Amherst will welcome the ACRL/NEC Annual Conference on Friday, April 21st, 2006. Members of a spirited and diligent planning committee, representing libraries from across New England, have been finalizing details of a rich program. As previously announced, Mary Lee Kennedy from Harvard Business School, Donald Beagle from Belmont Abbey College, and Susan Gibbons and Nancy Foster from the University of Rochester will address conference attendees in the morning. Each brings a different area of expertise to the general theme of building upon library strengths through collaboration. After lunch, the works of New England academic libraries will be highlighted in poster sessions, a presentation about resource sharing through NExpress, and a panel discussion about consortial collection development and acquisitions. After the program at the Mullins Center, attendees are invited to a guided tour of the new Learning Commons and W.E.B. Du Bois Library at the University of Massachusetts’ flagship campus. Registration for the Conference will open February 20th. For the program schedule, directions and accommodation options, and further developments, visit the Conference web page – http://www.acrlnec.org/springconf06/home.shtml. |
