Report of Constitution & Bylaws Committee
Louise Buckley, University of New Hampshire Bylaws Amendments Twelve amendments to the Constitution & Bylaws were proposed, approved, and ratified this year. A number of these changes were the result of Board of Directors discussions about ways to strengthen the operation of the Chapter and enhance participation by members of the Board. Other changes updated or clarified language in the Constitution & Bylaws or eliminated repetitive language. At the request of the Board of Directors, the committee researched bylaws of other ACRL chapters, developed a variety of proposals based on the goals mentioned above for the Board to review, and prepared revised drafts based on Board discussions. The committee also identified language in the Constitution & Bylaws that it suggested to the Board should be updated. At its meeting on January 4, 2006, the proposed amendments were duly approved by the Board. A membership ratification vote was conducted by email in conjunction with the election of officers. The proposed amendments were overwhelmingly approved. Following the ratification vote, the committee prepared revisions to sections of the Chapter Manual affected by the amendments. The Chapter Manual is available on the Chapter's web site. Committee Membership The members of the committee included: Judy Carlson, Westfield State College; Carolyn Coates, Eastern Connecticut State University; and Laurie Sabol, Tufts University. Nancy George, Chapter President, served as an ex officio member. Their service to the Chapter and the Board is much appreciated. |
