ACRL New England Chapter News
Online The New England Bibliographic Instruction Committee, NEBIC, has been having an exciting year! Last year ended with a highly rated program on evaluation titled, "Evaluation with a small E" (http://home.earthlink.net/~esmejake/nebic.html), and later this year (June 9, 2000), we are planning an all day program on information literacy. In addition to our annual programs, NEBIC meets regularly throughout the year. During each meeting, members have an opportunity to network and participate in information sharing sessions. This year, each meeting has also featured short presentations on library instruction by New England librarians. In November, Julie Whelan, Reference Librarian and Coordinator of Instruction at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston, presented a library instruction module she teaches to second year students. Our January meeting featured Ann Schaffner, Associate University Librarian for Research Services, Instruction, and Planning at Brandeis University. The title of her presentation was, "Information Literacy and the New Curriculum Design." Please feel free to join us! All academic librarians interested in library instruction are welcomed to attend our meetings. Meetings are advertised on ACRLNEC-L, NEBIC-L, BI-L, on the NEBIC web page (http://www.holycross.edu/departments/library/website/NEBIC/Nebic.htm), and on the ACRL/NEC calendar (http://abacus.bates.edu/acrlnec/calendar.html). I hope to see you at our next meeting!
