Hello --
I have 3 items of interest I'd like to share with you:
1. Membership Renewal Reminder -- When you become a member of the New England Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries, one of the benefits of your Chapter membership is local involvement in issues and activities concerning all academic libraries. However, In order for the Chapter to continue providing outstanding programs, workshops, and meetings through our Special Interest Groups, Leadership Initiatives, and Annual Conference, the Chapter will increase its membership dues beginning January 1, 2012 for individual members from $15.00 to $20.00. Student membership will remain at $5.00 and members of ACRL National will still be members of ACRL/NEC at no cost.
Why the increase? Chapter membership has not seen an increase in dues since 2006 but Chapter activities - such as continuing education and leadership and professional development opportunities - have increased and we want to continue offering those opportunities to our membership but the only way to do so is to increase the dues rate.
As incentive - If you renew your membership before January 1, 2012 you may renew at the $15 rate. You can renew your membership by completing the online membership form including checking the renewing member box and submitting your payment by
However, please be aware that when you renew your membership next year, your renewal will reflect the increased rate.
We hope that you continue your membership in ACRL/NEC and look forward to your involvement this year and years to come.
2. Women's Studies Interest Group - Please welcome Amy Robb as the new Chair of WSIG! Amy is the Program Manager & Specialist for Advance Program at Brown University in Providence, RI.
3. Ballot out-come:
a) Treasurer-Elect Position - approved.
b) Finance Task Force Standing Committee - approved.
c) Leadership Development Standing Committee - approved.
Enjoy this last month of 2011!
