Pam Graham, Candidate for CT State Representative

Candidate Statement

I have worked in Academic libraries for over twenty years. I am passionate about working with students and developing programs to promote life-long learning. In order for these programs to be successful, collaboration is important with not only faculty, but other members of the Academic community. Taking advantage of the opportunities to network with other librarians from other institutions has helped me become successful in my career as an Academic Librarian.

I am seeking election as the Connecticut State Representative to ACRL NEC because I believe the best way for us, as an Academic community, to be successful is to continue the regional opportunities that ACRL NEC has to offer, whether it’s an Instruction Swap, a program in Leadership, a discussion of Assessment, or something new. We can only become better at what we do as Librarians by engaging in opportunities that are enriching and meet our developing needs as our profession changes. I am looking forward to continuing and promoting the professional support system that is ACRL NEC.

I have attended the ACRL NEC and NELIG conferences annually. I have presented at NERCOMP and the CT Information Literacy Conference. I was the Librarian Team Leader for Becker College’s ACRL Assessment in Action grant. While I was at Becker College, I was very involved in Worcester’s Academic and Research Collaborative (ARC). I value the relationships I have made with colleagues through these organizations, and I look forward to developing new relationships as the Connecticut State Representative to ACRL NEC.
