Renee Fratantonio, Candidate for MA State Representative

Candidate Statement

There is nothing I appreciate more than communication and the relationships we build to reach our personal and shared goals. Without the guidance and support of my mentors, I would not be running for this position. I have been working in academic libraries since 2012, beginning with a library assistant position and now as the Instruction and Research Services Librarian for Fitchburg State University. I have worked at several colleges and universities, simultaneously, and I realized that our professional strength comes from working across institutional lines. Conferences are our formal platform for sharing but I think that the small and informal meetings we have with each other from different institutions and organizations are just as important, if not more so. As your state representative, I would strive to facilitate these types of working relationships in addition to promoting chapter events, recruiting new members, and liaising with other professional organizations to support and grow our field.
