ASIG collaborated with LOCI for its spring program, held June 7th at Holy Cross, “Copyright in the Digital Era – Voices of Experience.” We made our registration goal of 70 attendees, and had attendees come from Vermont, Maine, New York and Ontario. It was our largest geographic draw ever. Evaluations haven’t been completely tallied, but the overall response was positive for the program. Some comments: Q. What one thing (idea or suggestion) will you take back to work with you? Lots of great ideas Copyright policies can be very different In Ms. Enghagen’s presentation I learned a few thjngs about Fair Use that I didn’t know. I was particularly interested in the “developing a copyright policy” program and I feel pretty good about being able to begin that process. Clear crystallization on whether or not we’re meeting copyright compliance Better ways to link for e-reserves Ideas for putting together a copyright policy Info about annual copyright license for academic institutions (CCC)
Holy Cross was very popular as a location. Many folks commented on the beautiful campus and good food. Committee members were very pleased by the return of Gail Geisser after her medial leave. We hope she will return to the committee as her health permits. The planning committee is seeking new members, and will be begin planning our fall program shortly.
