Communications Committee Report

The Communications Committee began meeting formally as a committee this year and has completed two major projects.

  1. Sandra Rothenberg procured two banners for use by the chapter and its SIGS for public events. These banners will give us name recognition and identity at many of the events ACRL/NEC hosts and attends.
  2. The Committee researched, evaluated, and made a recommendation to the Board for a new hosting service to consolidate many of our electronic communications and our web presence. Bluehost was selected from a number of hosting services, and an account has been set up and the first year paid for. The next step is to migrate our current web site, wikis, and mailing lists to the new host over the summer and fall.

The more routine communications work included updating calendar pages, updating contact information for board members and SIG chairs, updating SIG pages by request (either by adding content or replacing pages with those sent by SIG webmasters), and generating the ballot for the spring board election. Two editions of the newsletter were produced this year and reside on the web site.

Another Conference Committee has been baptized by the wiki! We've heard once again how indispensable it was to have it to facilitate virtual collaboration among members. We look forward to the migration and the other new tools that we will have at our disposal. 2.0  3.0 here we come!

Our thanks to fellow Communications Committee members Christine Turner, Debbie Herman, Janet DiPaolo, Kendra St. Aubin, and Sandra Rothenberg for their work this year.

Respectfully submitted,
Val Harper, Communications Committee Co-Chair
Beatrice Pulliam, Communications Committee Co-Chair
