Started in 1985 by a group of librarians from the University of Connecticut, the Collection Development Interest Group often co-sponsors programs with other interest groups. Programs often focus on collection development in particular subject areas or specific material formats.

 

CDIG Fall Program:
“The Book : The Rumors of my Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated ”

The ACRL-NEC Collection Development Interest Group fall program will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007, from 10 am to 1 pm at Snell Library, Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Coffee and refreshments will be available at 9:30 am.

The topic for this program will include the following speakers:

  • G. Karen Merguerian Library Web Manager, Northeastern University will speak about the creation of the New Books List and the role of RSS functionality.
  • Anne Kenny, InterLibrary Loan Librarian, Boston College will describe BC’s “Books on Demand” service.
  • Peter Spitzform, Collection Development Librarian, University of Vermont will present on a recently launched project that will allow students and faculty to choose which titles are ordered on the approval plan.
  • Carolyn Morris, Director of US New Business Development, Coutts information Services, will speak about how libraries can develop a strategic plan for acquiring and integrating e-books into their existing print and e-collections.
  • Anne Cerstvik Nolan, Electronic Resources Coordinator, Brown University will describe an 18 month project with a focus on e-books and methods of delivery to users.

There is no fee for this program, but please RSVP via our web form by November 16th, so that we can adequately prepare for parking and refreshments. Parking information will be forthcoming shortly after registration closes on November 16th.
