NELIG Meeting - 9/25/2009

Fall Meeting:

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Worcester, MA) Gateway Building

9/25 - 9:30am-12:15pm Microlearning & Learning on Demand (meeting will be followed by an Annual Program Planning meeting, so if you are interested in being on the program planning group plan to stay until 1:15pm)

The first part of the morning will focus on microlearning. Just a buzzword or serious potential? Key components of microlearning include out-of-class or informal learning experience or 60 seconds to three minutes usually covering a few key concepts. It may include a participatory "nanoactivity" that reinforces learning. Subsequent in-class activities and discussions may build upon microlectures. Librarians, instructional technologists, students, and faculty will share examples.

The second hour will focus on learning on demand or just-in-time learning. Librarians commonly use online tutorials which often incorporate a variety of media to facilitate learning. Learn how educators deliver material on a flexibly scheduled or as-needed basis to learners.
